I love to share arts, crafts, DIY projects, nature activities and seasonal celebration ideas for kids (and the young at heart). We believe in the wonder of childhood, the power of imagination, learning through play, getting outside in all seasons, and co-creating a life you love--one rhythm at a time!
Hey there, With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I wanted to share some fun and creative art activities perfect for celebrating the occasion. Tis the season for love, and what better way to share it with your friends and family than by creating heart arts and crafts?! As many of you are well aware, I'm a total sucker for homemade keepsakes and treasures made by the people in life I love and care about, especially the keepsake arts and crafts my daughter creates for me for Valentine's Day and Mother's Day. So, there are several Valentine's Day arts, crafts, and painting ideas on Rhythms of Play to help kids make beautiful things to express their love through creativity. Here are some creative heart art projects and ideas with innovative ways to paint art with heart shapes of various sizes and shapes. The post also shares a little bit about the symbolism of the heart. My favorite Valentine's Day art activity is making surprise heart art with watercolors and a white resist medium. Even though I know what's coming, the surprise never gets old! If you have no idea what I mean, click the link above for the step-by-step watercolor painting tutorial. Then, scroll down to watch my daughter paint surprise heart art for the first time. You can even see her pause when she first notices the surprise I made just for her! Or try this heart salt painting project. It is mesmerizing to watch the different paint colors mix and blend while creating a raised salt masterpiece shaped like a heart. Click the link to see it for yourself! Several Valentine's Day projects included in the art activity ideas above can be made into simple homemade gifts for Valentine's Day or Mother's Day. I have some beautiful paintings my daughter made over the years hanging on my wall. I recommend trying these keepsake craft ideas if you would prefer to make homemade Valentine's Day gifts. The post is filled with adorable gifts kids can make for family, friends, classmates, and loved ones. You can make them as classroom handouts or send them to friends and family to share your love with those you care about. If you’re hosting a Valentine’s Day event or simply looking for fun activities to enjoy at home, these creative ideas can be a great way to bring some creativity into the mix. Additionally, if you’re a member of the Play Club or have access to the printable heart templates in the Rhythms of Play Learning Center, you can use them to create several of the suggested arts and crafts mentioned above. Enjoy! If you need more detailed instructions or additional suggestions, please don't hesitate to let me know. I’d be happy to help! Wishing you a colorful and love-filled Valentine’s Day! That's all for now, Nell |
